The HCMC Urban Railway Project Management Board (MAUR) said that the contractor is building 9 pedestrian bridges across the Hanoi Highway. These bridges help people easily move from residential areas, commercial centers, bus stops to the elevated station.
Specifically, 9 bridges were built connecting Tan Cang, Thao Dien, An Phu, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, Hi-tech, and National University stations.
Most of the bridges are located along Hanoi Highway, Thu Duc City.

It is known that each bridge is about 78m long, 3.5m wide, connecting from the passenger transfer floor of the station to the residential area, the bus station along the side. One side of the bridge connects to the residential area and in front of the commercial center. On the other side, the bridge crosses the highway, helping passengers safely get in and out of the station because they don't have to cross the road.
According to MAUR, currently the pedestrian bridges at Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, Hi-tech stations are under construction, have been built on piers, making hat beams at some locations. Pedestrian bridge at Tan Cang station is under construction of pile foundation, the bridge at Rach Chiec station is preparing to transfer foundation construction machinery. The remaining pedestrian bridges are digging and exploring underground infrastructure.
The buildings are designed to be minimalist in terms of area, with stairs, roofs, trees, lighting equipment, convenient for pedestrians to the elevated stations.
The pedestrian bridges are expected to be completed by the end of this year, along with the completion time of metro line 1. Construction costs are included in the project investment capital.
In addition to the above 9 locations, the remaining two elevated stations of the project, including Suoi Tien and Van Thanh, have bridges.
Metro line No. 1 has a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND, nearly 20 km long, from Long Binh, Thu Duc depot to Ben Thanh, District 1. There are 11 elevated stations, 3 underground stations in the city center are Ben Thanh, City Theater and Ba Son.
Currently, the whole project has completed about 95% of the volume. The pedestrian bridges will be completed by the end of 2023 at the same schedule as the completion of the metro line Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien.
