Phu My 2 Bridge has a total investment of up to 21,000 billion VND, and has been agreed upon in principle by Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai.

Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai have agreed on the policy of building three key bridges: Cat Lai, Dong Nai 2 and Phu My 2. Of which, Phu My 2 is the bridge with the largest total investment (nearly 21,500 billion VND).

In addition, Masterise Group has just sent a document proposing to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to participate in the research and investment in the construction of Phu My 2 Bridge. The enterprise proposed to implement it under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, the BT contract form with payment by land fund.

Phu My 2 Bridge is 16.7 km long, including 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles. The main bridge crossing the Dong Nai River is more than 3 km long, starting from Nguyen Huu Tho Street, passing through Hoang Quoc Viet - Dao Tri (District 7, old Ho Chi Minh City) and joining Lien Cang - Road 25C in Nhon Trach (Dong Nai).

Notably, this is the first project in Ho Chi Minh City to apply the double-decker bridge model, to overcome the limitations of road clearance and narrow land fund, especially on Hoang Quoc Viet route, which has been a bottleneck for many years.

Once completed, Phu My 2 bridge will connect the South Saigon area with Dong Nai, forming a transport corridor from Hiep Phuoc port to Long Thanh airport, shortening travel time and reducing pressure on the often overloaded Phu My 1 bridge.

Moreover, the project passes through densely populated areas of District 7 (formerly Ho Chi Minh City). Especially Phu My Hung urban area, from here to Long Thanh airport will only take about 30-35 minutes, instead of more than an hour as at present. (Photo: Tran Ut).

According to records, the area where Phu My 2 bridge is planned to be built, the section connecting to Nguyen Huu Tho street (Nha Be commune, Ho Chi Minh City), is currently mainly canals and has not been exploited.

Hoang Quoc Viet route (Phu Thuan ward, Ho Chi Minh City), where the project passes through, the first section is about 15m wide, but from the intersection of Huynh Tan Phat and Dao Tri streets, the road surface is only about 8m wide, quite narrow and often congested during rush hour.

The proposed location for the construction of Phu My 2 bridge is about 3 km from Nguyen Van Linh avenue, about 8 km from the center of Saigon ward, conveniently connecting the inner city and opening a fast route for vehicles from the southwest of Ho Chi Minh City towards Dong Nai - Long Thanh airport.
