On the morning of August 29, 2023, Metro No. 1 tested the entire line for the first time

On the morning of August 29, Ho Chi Minh City people witnessed 17 trains of metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) test running the entire route for the first time, with a route nearly 40 km long. This is a special milestone after nearly 10 years of waiting.

According to the route, the starting point for metro train No. 1 to test the entire route is at Ben Thanh underground station (District 1).

According to records, at 9:30 a.m. on August 29, metro line number 1 started rolling at Ben Thanh underground station (District 1). The train stops at 3 stations (City Theater Station, Bason Station, Tan Cang Station) during the test run of the entire route.

Contractor Hitachi has completed the installation and testing of the underground area to bring metro No. 1 to test the entire route. 17 metro trains have run from Ben Thanh station to Suoi Tien station and vice versa.

On the test day of 17 trains on the entire route, there were 20 participants. The contractor will evaluate safety, limit the number of employees and prepare solutions for emergency situations in the tunnel.

From the beginning of 2023 until now, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board and contractors have organized testing steps. Testing is also divided into many stages, from static and dynamic testing to interface testing and integration testing.

The most difficult thing was testing the section in the tunnel. Here, contractors both constructed and tested in narrow tunnel conditions, small space, and communication was not as convenient as the elevated section.

The integration of systems in the tunnel is also more complicated because there are also diverse lighting systems, fire protection systems and security equipment, etc.

To ensure the completion progress of metro line No. 1 project, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board said it will speed up system safety assessment, testing, operation and trial exploitation for each section and whole line.
