On the afternoon of August 31, 2023, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the bidding package of the Tan Son Nhat airport terminal T3 project.
This is a domestic passenger terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, expected to be completed in early 2025, helping to increase the operating capacity at Tan Son Nhat airport to 50 million passengers per year.
The T3 terminal project includes 3 main items: passenger terminal, high-rise parking garage combined with non-aviation services and viaduct system in front of the terminal..

The total investment of the project is 10,990 billion VND. Capital to implement the project is mobilized from ACV's equity capital (70%) and commercial loans (30%).
The passenger terminal has a scale of 1 basement and 4 floors, with a total construction floor area of 112,500 m2.
The station has a linear shape similar to the existing station, designed into 2 separate departure and arrival elevations. The terminal has 90 traditional airline check-in counters, 20 automatic bagdrop counters and 42 check-in kiosks, 27 aircraft gates, 6 departure baggage handling islands and 10 arrival baggage return islands, 25 checkpoints. In particular, terminal T3 is designed with 8 security control doors and a separate area to serve VIP, business class and priority guests.
The high-rise garage category combined with non-aeronautical services is a complex of 2 basements, 2 common basements, 2 4-storey commercial office complex blocks and a 3-storey motorbike parking block connected to separated by a bridge corridor, the total construction floor area (including 2 basement floors) is 130,000 m2.
The elevated road system at 2 station levels includes: 2nd floor has 2-3 lanes, each lane width is 3.5 m; The 3rd floor has 2 - 5 lanes, each lane is 3.5m wide.
Once completed, passenger terminal T3 will be a domestic passenger terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers/year, meeting 7,000 passengers/peak hour, and operating all types of Code C and Code aircraft. E, fundamentally solve the congestion situation at Tan Son Nhat airport.
