Two bridges spanning the Saigon River, Thu Thiem 1 and Thu Thiem 2, have just been renamed to Thu Thiem and Ba Son, respectively.

Accordingly, the bridge connecting Ton Duc Thang Street (District 1) to Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City), will now be renamed Ba Son instead of Thu Thiem 2 as before. Inaugurated in April 2022, this work is nearly 1.5 km long, 6 lanes, total investment 3,100 billion. Ba Son Bridge is an outstanding architectural highlight on the Saigon River.

And Thu Thiem 1 bridge connecting Ngo Tat To, Nguyen Huu Canh (Binh Thanh district) to Nguyen Co Thach street, Thu Thiem new urban area (Thu Duc city) will be named Thu Thiem. The bridge is 1.2 km long, with a total investment of about 1,450 billion VND and was inaugurated in 2008.
According to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the landmarks of Thu Thiem and Ba Son are associated with the formation and development of the land of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City and have been deeply ingrained in the subconscious of the city's people. Therefore, in order to save the historical - cultural values, in 2022, the City People's Committee issued a Decision to add the names of these two places to the bank of street names and public works in the city. At the same time, the City People's Council passed a Resolution naming two bridges, Thu Thiem and Ba Son.
The use of Thu Thiem and Ba Son places to name the two bridges spanning the Saigon River not only means to create a connection between the past and present in the city named after Uncle Ho, but also contributes to the education of historical traditions. history - culture, raising love for the homeland, country, national pride; at the same time, creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals in economic, cultural and social transactions, contributing to the development of the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
