Officially drilling the first pile at the 1,000 billion VND pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River to Thu Thiem peninsula

On April 28, 2025, the project to build a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River marked an important milestone when the first pile was drilled in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City). This is the starting step for construction package No. 1 undertaken by Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC (CC1).

After the first pile is drilled, the construction unit will continue to drill the next drills for both sides of District 1 and Thu Duc City. According to the design, each approach bridge pier will have 4 bored piles with a diameter of 0.8m, an average depth of 33 meters.

It is expected that the items in the construction package No. 1 of the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River will be completed in 9 months. At the same time, Nutifood is also speeding up the progress of other items and related work so that the project can be completed and put into use soon.

The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River starts at Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1). The end point is in the riverside park, adjacent to Nguyen Thien Thanh Street (Route R3) in the new urban area of Thu Thiem (Thu Duc City).

Notably, the bridge is designed in the shape of a water coconut leaf - a typical image in the South. This design is considered to create a strong impression when combining the simple traditional features typical of the South with the modernity of Ho Chi Minh City today.

The project is also designed with open space to create clear visibility for pedestrians above. In addition to serving pedestrians, the bridge also has lanes for bicycles and people with disabilities. The bridge is also designed for ambulances in case of emergency...

Previously, as part of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River was solemnly held by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at Ben Bach Dang Park, District 1 on March 29.
