The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River sponsored by Nutifood Company has a total investment of 996.9 billion VND.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just reported to the City People's Committee on the implementation of the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River connecting Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1) with the riverside park of the new urban area of Thu Thiem (Thu Duc).
This project is fully funded by Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company without any conditions. The company has completed the project proposal and has been reviewed by the University of Transport Consulting and Construction Company Limited.
In terms of scale, the pedestrian bridge is about 261m long, with the main span being a cable-stayed arch about 187m long, with steel girders. The cross-section of the main bridge has a width varying from 7-11m.
The total investment of the pedestrian bridge project is 996.9 billion VND. The project is expected to start construction before April 30, 2025 and be completed in 2027.
The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River has an architectural design plan that has been approved in principle by the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and the City People's Committee approved the selection results in October 2023.
With an architectural design inspired by the image of a water coconut leaf - a typical image of the South, the bridge has a unique, impressive and simple beauty, promising to attract the attention of people and tourists to the city.
According to the Department of Transport, the investment proposal for the pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River prepared by Nutifood Company is in accordance with regulations.
Therefore, the Department recommends that the City People's Committee approve the investment policy and assign Thu Duc City and the Thu Thiem Urban Development Area Management Board to establish, appraise, and approve local adjustments to the 1/500 detailed planning of the central square and riverside park in the new urban area of Thu Thiem.
.At the same time, adjust the land use planning indicators in area A and area P2 in accordance with the design plan.
