According to the proposal, the Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 2A project, from Ben Thanh to Thu Thiem, will be nearly 6 km long, comprising 6 underground stations, with a preliminary total investment of approximately 33,000 billion VND.

 

 

 

 

On January 26, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the proposal from the Department of Finance to assign Truong Hai Group ( Thaco ) to conduct research and prepare a feasibility study report for Metro Line 2 ( Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section ), along with its capacity profile and draft research contract, within a period of 4 months. Metro Line 2A Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem

 

 

 

 

Ham Nghi Station is planned to be located on Ham Nghi Street, an area with a high concentration of office buildings, financial centers, commercial centers, and service facilities in Saigon Ward 

 

 

 

 

The planned location for the Ham Nghi underground station is near the intersection of Ham Nghi and Ton Duc Thang streets. The station will play a crucial role in serving the transportation needs of the large workforce in the existing CBD core area.

 

 

 

 

Subsequently, Metro Line 2A will cross the Saigon River and proceed to the Ring Road station, located on the main transportation axis of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, which is shaping a modern architectural space with low building density and many green areas  

 

 

 

 

According to the plan, the Ring Road (designated R1) is designed to curve around the central core of Thu Thiem, connecting other main axes such as Mai Chi Tho Boulevard, the Saigon River waterfront, the central square area, and the financial, commercial, and service functional zones  

 

 

 

 

Integrating metro stations directly onto this axis not only enhances passenger transport capacity but also facilitates the formation of transport-oriented urban development (TOD) models, encouraging people to use the metro instead of private vehicles  

 

 

 

 

At the intersection of Nguyen Co Thach Street and Mai Chi Tho Boulevard (on the left), the Children's Palace underground station of metro line 2A (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem) will be built  

 

 

 

 

The Children's Palace subway station not only serves transportation needs but also plays a crucial role as a transit point, connecting public transport with large-scale cultural and educational activities in the area.

 

 

 

 

The International Hospital Station is located in the future high-quality medical facility area of ​​Thu Thiem. The station plays a crucial role in directly connecting the metro system with the hospital system, facilitating safe and quick access to public transportation for residents, patients, and medical staff  

 

 

 

 

The location of the underground station here helps to reduce pressure on surface traffic, especially during peak hours 

 

 

 

 

Binh Khanh Station is located in the area bordering the Thu Thiem New Urban Area and existing residential areas in the southeastern part of the city  

 

 

 

 

The station serves a large volume of transportation needs for residents in the Binh Khanh area, while also connecting Thu Thiem with traffic routes to District 7 and the southern part of Ho Chi Minh City  

 

 

 

 

As a gateway, Binh Khanh station is expected to become an important transfer point, contributing to expanding the service area of ​​the metro line  

 

 

 

 

Thu Thiem Station is the terminus of Metro Line 2A. The station directly serves the future financial, commercial, and service center, enhancing rapid connectivity between the two banks of the Saigon River  

 

 

 

 

Thu Thiem Railway Station will be built on an area of ​​approximately 17 hectares, located in Binh Trung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Its location is adjacent to major transportation arteries such as Mai Chi Tho Boulevard, Dong Van Cong Street, and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, promising to become an important transportation hub, providing convenient connections between the inner city and neighboring provinces.
